Hi, my name is

Milta Terrero (she/her)

Though I have always had interest in birth work, I pursued a 10 year career in Healthcare Administration at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Through my different experiences I was a patient advisor and patient advocate, these roles gave me a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many families.

My desire to support and empower people came full circle in 2020 when I decided to start a Doula Mentorship Program with Manhattan Birth. I am constantly looking to grow and learn, always searching for the next steps I can take to educate myself so that I can better serve you and your family!

As your birth doula, I am honored to join you on this journey where we will work closely together to help you achieve your ideal birth. I provide emotional and spiritual support through calming and grounding techniques such as breathing, affirmations or guided meditation. I help manage your pain through relaxation, comforting touch, light movements and other tools that work for you. I provide you with educational information that will help you make an informed decision. The goal is for you to feel safe, comfortable and informed.

I believe that birth is an incredible and intimate rite of passage and one that is unique to every family. I hope through working together I am able to provide a sense of safety, security and confidence.

Spending the first 6 months of my postpartum period in Dominican Republic, my elders taught me how to observe cuarentena (40 day recovery postpartum), my baby and I were cared for, nourished and I was healing. As your postpartum doula, I bring this traditional knowledge along with assistance in recovering from childbirth, caring for your newborn(s), guidance with your feeding goals, and preparing warm, hearty and healthy postpartum foods.  I’m all about providing care that will allow you, as the new parent, to thrive and truly heal.

When I’m not doula-ing, I’m spending time with my preteen, trying out new recipes, working with herbs & traveling. I love spending time in nature, taking care of my plants and reading.

Testimonials:

Having Milta as a doula was such a relief. From the time that we booked, I felt more confident and free and looked up more information with the comfort that Milta would help me to advocate for the decisions that I made. I had the benefit of Milta in the prenatal period, during the delivery and postpartum. Her support at every stage was beneficial, comforting and helped me to recover. Milta’s help also helped me to focus on my newborn. Whenever I had questions, Milta was available to help me figure things out about the pregnancy and the newborn. I so appreciate the support that Milta offered me and I would recommend a doula to every woman who is getting ready to have a baby.

To our amazing doula Milta! You have become so special to our family. You will forever hold a special place in my heart. Milta started off as the person I went to for my natural hair care oil and teas. As the manifestor I am, I told her one day I would hire her as my doula. Lol I was not lying. 3 weeks later I found out I was pregnant. Milta taught me all I know about child birth and postpartum. She suggested classes and was always there for questions. We were in constant communication throughout my pregnancy. During my 22 hour labor she was there and more. She massaged me, motivated me, talked to me about what was going on AND she was there to hold my other foot when I was giving birth. Having you as my doula was the best decision I made. Love you so much

”The first time Milta entered our home as a postpartum doula a few weeks after we welcomed our newborn baby, I felt an instant reassurance and calm from her presence. She is effortlessly nurturing, and her positive spirit is infectious. Milta earned our trust immediately with her expertise; I’ve learned so much from her as a new mom. And because of her warmth and good humor, being in her company is always an absolute joy.”
