Our Story
Hi, my name is
Milta Terrero (she/her)
Though I have always had interest in birth work, I pursued a 10 year career in Healthcare Administration at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Through my different experiences I was a patient advisor and patient advocate, these roles gave me a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many families.
My desire to support and empower people came full circle in 2020 when I decided to start a Doula Mentorship Program with Manhattan Birth. I am constantly looking to grow and learn, always searching for the next steps I can take to educate myself so that I can better serve you and your family!
As your birth doula, I am honored to join you on this journey where we will work closely together to help you achieve your ideal birth. I provide emotional and spiritual support through calming and grounding techniques such as breathing, affirmations or guided meditation. I help manage your pain through relaxation, comforting touch, light movements and other tools that work for you. I provide you with educational information that will help you make an informed decision. The goal is for you to feel safe, comfortable and informed.
I believe that birth is an incredible and intimate rite of passage and one that is unique to every family. I hope through working together I am able to provide a sense of safety, security and confidence.
Spending the first 6 months of my postpartum period in Dominican Republic, my elders taught me how to observe cuarentena (40 day recovery postpartum), my baby and I were cared for, nourished and I was healing. As your postpartum doula, I bring this traditional knowledge along with assistance in recovering from childbirth, caring for your newborn(s), guidance with your feeding goals, and preparing warm, hearty and healthy postpartum foods. I’m all about providing care that will allow you, as the new parent, to thrive and truly heal.
When I’m not doula-ing, I’m spending time with my preteen, trying out new recipes, working with herbs & traveling. I love spending time in nature, taking care of my plants and reading.
