Our Story
Hi, my name is
Melissa Acero (she/her)
and I am an Afro-Latina nursing student specializing in maternal health, deeply passionate about supporting families through their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journeys. Growing up in both the Bronx, NY, and Houston, TX, I embrace a unique blend of cultural richness and community values that shape how I care for families.
As a Spanish-speaking doula, I provide care to both English and Spanish-speaking families, ensuring that no one feels unheard or unsupported. Witnessing the healthcare disparities affecting Black mothers inspired me to advocate for improved maternal health outcomes, with a particular focus on the often-overlooked postpartum phase. Though I haven’t personally experienced motherhood yet, I am a certified proud "tia" (auntie) and feel honored to be part of your village.
With 6 years of experience as a live-in nanny and babysitter in NYC, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges families face after birth, and I am committed to "mothering the mother" during this critical time, ensuring she feels nurtured, healed, and cared for as she transitions into motherhood. By combining my pursuit of a healthcare career with my dedication to being a healer and caregiver, I aim to provide comprehensive postpartum support—emotionally, physically, and informationally—so that every mother feels empowered and truly seen.
